From a Seedling
Our founder, Sonia, was concerned about the lack of dependable access to healthy foods for children in her community. Inspired by her own experiences with food insecurity, she was determined to find a creative and practical way to bring resources and fresh produce from a local education garden directly into the hands of the children who needed them.
Established in 2022, Sonia's Spoonful was created to help bring children into a local education garden to learn about fruits and vegetables, access simple and illustrated recipe cards featuring the seasonal produce grown onsite and provide children and families with opportunities to try out the recipes and return home with containers of produce as well as new skills and confidence to work with them.
